1. Who we are
This policy explains how Webocreation (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you use webocreation.com (“the website”), contact us, subscribe to our newsletter or work with us. Webocreation is based at 6015 W Camino San Xavier, Glendale, Arizona 85308, USA, and is responsible for your personal information under this policy.
You can read most of the website without telling us who you are. We collect information only when you choose to give it to us, and through the analytics, advertising and security tools described below.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: your name, email address and message, plus anything else you choose to add — company, store URL, budget, timeline, the topic you pick and whether you’d like our newsletter.
- Newsletter: your email address.
- Comments: your name, email address, optional website, your comment, your IP address and your browser’s user agent.
- Guest posts and emails: whatever you send us, such as your name, bio, photo and article.
- Calls and projects: details you share when you book a call or hire us, such as your business details, store access and billing information.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data: pages you visit, how you arrived, time on page, approximate location (city or country), browser, device type and IP address, collected through Google Analytics and our server logs.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see section 4.
We don’t ask for sensitive information such as health data, and please don’t send it to us.
3. How we use it
We use personal information to:
- reply to your messages and prepare proposals (to take steps you asked for before a contract, or our legitimate interest in answering enquiries);
- deliver projects and services you hire us for, and invoice for them (to perform our contract with you);
- send our newsletter (with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time);
- publish your comments and keep spam off the website (our legitimate interest in running a useful, safe comment section);
- understand how the website is used so we can improve it (our legitimate interest, or your consent where the law requires it);
- show advertising that helps keep our tutorials free (your consent where the law requires it, otherwise our legitimate interest);
- keep the website secure and prevent fraud and abuse (our legitimate interest);
- meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We don’t use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We and our partners use them for these purposes:
- Essential: cookies that make the website work, such as remembering your name and email for your next comment if you choose that option.
- Analytics: Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, measures how visitors use the website. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4.
- Advertising: Google AdSense shows ads on some pages. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
- Embedded content: videos and other content embedded from sites such as YouTube behave as if you visited those sites, and they may set their own cookies.
Your choices: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the website still works without them, though some features (such as remembered comment details) won’t. You can turn off personalized ads at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info (in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu), and opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
5. Services we use
We use these providers to run the website and our business. They process information on our behalf or, for advertising and analytics, under their own privacy policies:
- Google — Analytics, Tag Manager, AdSense, Search Console and Reader Revenue Manager, Google Fonts (your browser requests fonts from Google’s servers), and Gmail for our email. Google Privacy Policy.
- Mailchimp (Intuit) — sends our newsletter and stores subscriber email addresses. Intuit Privacy Statement.
- Akismet and Gravatar (Automattic) — Akismet checks comments for spam; Gravatar shows your profile picture next to comments if you have one. Both receive comment data or a hashed form of your email. Automattic Privacy Policy.
- Calendly — if you book a call, Calendly collects the details you enter. Calendly Privacy Notice.
- Our web hosting provider — stores the website and its server logs.
The website also links to other sites, such as Amazon for our books, and to our social media profiles. Those sites have their own privacy policies; when you follow a link, they may set cookies (for example, Amazon uses cookies to track affiliate referrals). Our share buttons are plain links and don’t track you before you click them.
6. When we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- with the service providers listed above, to run the website and our business;
- with your permission, for example when you ask us to coordinate with your hosting company or another developer;
- when required by law, or to protect our rights, our users or the public;
- with a buyer or successor if our business is ever sold or reorganized, under the same protections.
Advertising cookies may count as “sharing” personal information under some US state privacy laws. You can opt out of personalized advertising using the choices in section 4.
7. International transfers
We are based in the USA, and most of our service providers process data in the USA. If you contact us from elsewhere, including the European Economic Area or the UK, your information will be transferred to and processed in the USA. Where the law requires it, our providers protect these transfers with safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
8. How long we keep it
- Messages and enquiries: as long as needed to answer you and handle any project that follows, then deleted unless we need them for legal or accounting reasons.
- Client and billing records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Comments: for as long as the comment is published. Spam is deleted automatically.
- Analytics data: according to the retention period set in Google Analytics, after which it is deleted automatically.
9. How we protect it
The website is served over HTTPS, admin access is limited and protected, and we use reputable providers with their own security programs. No website or email service is completely secure, so please don’t send passwords or payment card details by email or the contact form; we’ll arrange a secure way to share access when a project needs it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information;
- object to or restrict how we use it, including for direct marketing;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what we did before;
- opt out of targeted advertising, and not be treated differently for using these rights.
To use any of these rights, email us at webocreation.com@gmail.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we’ll reply within 30 days. To stop the newsletter, use the unsubscribe link in any email.
If you are in the EEA or the UK and are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can also complain to your local data protection authority — though we’d appreciate the chance to fix it first.
11. Children
The website is meant for adults and businesses. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and the UK). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our website, our tools or the law changes. We’ll change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we’ll add a notice on the website or email newsletter subscribers.
